Week Four- 2018
Hello Creek Run Tribe!
Hello parents and campers! Welcome to the fourth edition of the 2018 on-line Trail Talk, Camp Creek Run's summer camp newsletter. We had a fun-filled week and we hope you did too!
Owls cannot turn their heads completely around.360 degrees. Kristen from Cedar Run Animal Shelter told our kids that some can go as far as 270 degrees, though. Kristen had all kinds of information on owls and brought in a couple of her feathered friends for the campers to learn about. Cedar Run is a good friend of Camp Creek Run and does great work to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife and educate the community about the natural world.
Backwards Day is both odd and entertaining. The idea is to start the day off as if you are ending it. So, last period first, lunch before snack, and morning drums in the afternoon. Why people even wear their clothes backward. Backwards or forwards, we at CCR like to celebrate the halfway point in the summer with style. So we're sorry if all your kids wanted breakfast for dinner.
The Great Bakeoff!
This was easily one of the greatest years for cake creation so far! The villages took the theme (super heroes) and created a complex and compelling dessert in only 20 minutes! There were costumes, songs, dances, and towering monuments in icing. All villages had to pick a secret ingredient. All could use one snack from the snack bar. And all villages could use their creativity and wit. We were all so proud of staff and campers for their energy and teamwork! Great job everyone!
