Hello Creek Run Tribe!

Hello parents and campers! Welcome to the seventh edition of the 2007 on-line Trail Talk,
Camp Creek Run's newsletter.

Smoke Free!

Smokey the Bear and NJ Forest Fire Warden Tom Gerber made time in their busy schedules to educate our campers about forest fires. Our region has been in the news concerning the recent Pine Barrens fire -- and it was great to have an expert to shed some light on the dangers of accidental fires in our forests. Thanks to Assistant Counselor Kevin for helping Smokey be so animated!

Spring is in the Air!

Keara and Adam K. took some of our nature lovers for a stream walk this week! They found all kinds of interesting aquatic insects and freshwater mollusks. Our 40 acre preserve allows everyone the chance to get in touch with the natural world. Our campers love the woods here -- and we hope they'll visit during the year for one of our family nature hikes (stay tuned...)!

Color Me Red and Green and Yellow and...

Our annual tie-dye day brought the most wondrous results yet. All of the campers were able to make a shirt and show off their inner artist. We tie-dyed over 250 shirts in two days. Thanks to everyone (especially Brittany and Livia) for all the help!

Going Down Under!

Wacky Water World was a refreshing break in the summer activities. The whole camp was treated to all forms of wacky wetness. In the fields or in the pool, Camp Creek Run showed great spirit in all of the fun. Thanks Howie, Phil, and Keith!

Do You Hoola?

Adam W. and his brother Jay put on a magnificent show for the camp at our Luau. Many a booty was shaken and all the villages got together for the uproarious event. Adam was the Master of Ceremonies and kept the grooves...well, grooving!

Spirit!

Wanaque and their talented counselors Judy and Heather were asked to represent the spirit of camp for the seventh week by holding the coveted Spirit Stick. The Wanaques challenged the Tamaracks to a game of Newcomb and everyone had a great time!
