Hello Creek Run Tribe!
Hello parents and campers! Welcome to the fourth edition of the 2007 on-line
Trail Talk,
Camp Creek Run's newsletter.
Half way already?! The weeks are flying by and we hope everyone is enjoying our best summer yet. Remember campers, try as many new activities as possible during the summer.
Caught You!Our lake is one of the great features of our camp. We do so many fun activities in it during the summer. One of our great traditions is fishing. Led by our ultimate fisherman, Waz, campers have an awesome time casting their lines. Waz has also included the lower camp in the fun. This week the Iawandas helped out and everyone went fishing together. The kids had a ball and made new friends.
What a Hoot!Cape May Zoo visited camp with a few friends this week. All the campers got a close-up look at an owl, snake, and an opposum. The Cape May Zoo has visited many times over the year and we hope that everyone gets a chance to visit their excellent zoo.
Dig It!Keara took some of our campers for a trip to fossil hunt in North Jersey. Led by CCR's friend Ned Gilmore of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences, our brave explorers combed streams for ancient treasures from the Cretaceous period. The kids came back with great fossil finds and we are very eager to continue these adventure trips in the future.
Bull's Eye!
Our Upper Camp Archery Exhibition was this week. Adam and Kevin have been training our archers all summer. The campers showed their magnificent skills in front of parents and campers alike. It's wonderful to see the kids work so hard and enjoy themselves as well. Great job guys!
Marshmallows, Anyone?!
Friday night was Camp Creek Run's annual family campfire. Parents joined their campers at camp for a BYO picnic dinner! Fabulous music was provided by The Relics, a band that Keara's dad is a member of. Everyone had a great time meeting other families, talking to staff, and watching campers proudly show off their camp to parents. All in all, the night provided good company -- and great roasted marshmallows!
Spirit!
Ramapo and their talented counselors Adam K. and Georgia were asked to represent the spirit of camp for the fourth week by holding the coveted Spirit Stick. The Ramapos challenged the Iawandas to a soccer game. The whole camp cheered the two teams to a stunning 2-1 victory by the Ramapos. Afterward, the counselors jumped into the lake together as a sign of unity. What a day!
