Hello Creek Run Tribe!

Hello parents and campers! Welcome to the second edition of the 2007 on-line Trail Talk,
Camp Creek Run's newsletter.

We hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July holiday as much as we did. The weather has been wacky over the last two weeks but at camp everyday is sunny and pleasant. All of our staff have been complimenting our campers' great attitudes and willingness to try new things. Onward and upward!!

Freedom!

Our Independence Day Celebration was as spectacular as ever. Everyone was in a spirited mood on Tuesday as all of the festivities commenced. We would like to thank our sports supervisors, Phil and Keith, for organizing our field events. Howie and the lifeguards handled all pool activities and even helped dish out the camp lunch. Everyone pitched in to make it a memorable and exciting day.

In the Garden!

This week many campers were able to visit our vegetable garden with Dani. From the Kits to the Iawandas, Creek Run wants all our kids to have positive experiences with nature. And how better to enjoy the outdoors than in your own backyard. Keara and Dani are preparing for the arrival of caterpillars for our fantastic butterfly garden. Keep an eye out in the coming days.

It's Only Natural!

Ned Gilmore from the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences Museum visited camp on Friday with his son Collin. He brought a collection of the museum's skulls to compare animal anatomy - everything from a monkey's skull to an elephant's! Camper Allison Wasdick, Friday's birthday girl, got the chance to hold up a preserved fruit bat for all the campers to see. Its enourmous wingspan brought lots of oohs and aahs from the crowd.

Spirit!

Tamarack and their talented counselors Erin and Kevin were asked to represent the spirit of camp for the first week by holding the coveted Spirit Stick. The Tamaracks were well represented in the relays and all activities during the week. Also, the group has really shown how to get along and have a great time. They set an example for us all!
