Hello Creek Run Tribe!

Hello parents and campers! Welcome to the first edition of the 2011 on-line Trail Talk,
Camp Creek Run's newsletter.

We would like to thank our campers, parents, and staff for all the support over the years. Creek Run has become one of the premier camps in the area because of all of you and we couldn't do it without you. It's going to be another fun-filled, inspired, and busy summer - so get your camp legs ready! Here we go!!

The Essentials!

All campers should be prepared for the weather. That means keep an eye on the forecast the night before. It can be very cool in the morning and humid in the afternoon. Even though we always say it never rains at camp...it can be wet. So, wear appropriate footwear. Also, bring a water bottle and sunblock everyday. Whether there's a cloud in the sky or not, it's always best to play it safe by protecting your skin from the sun. Also, sitting in school all year does not prepare you for 8 weeks of non-stop fun at Camp Creek Run. Hydrating yourself will help you feel strong all day from swim lessons to archery. Oh...and you're going to need your sleep, too.

It Takes a Village!

One of the major themes at camp is unity. So, to kick-off the season we have all of our villages create banners and village cheers. The campers work together the whole week in preparation for our Village Parade. This summer we had some amazing examples of the extraordinary talent of our counselors and kids. The parade was the loudest yet (we were getting calls from Collingswood to keep it down). Cheers are not just for week one. We encourage our villages to show spirit all summer long by singing their village cheer alll through the day.

Hello? Is This Thing On?

Open Mic has become a strong tradition at Camp Creek Run. Every Wednesday, Judi gathers campers and counselors together to show off a variety of skills and talents. Adam is our MC dropping mad beats and setting up the entertainment during snack time. Highlights from this week were Kevin (counselor), the tapping Wax siblings, and Annaliese Holland singing the National Anthem. We look forward to many more displays of courage and brilliance as the summer progresses.

Your Minute Starts Now!

There can be no more pressure in the world to equal that of two-hundred spectators breathing down your neck as you attempt to perilously place plastic cups in a towering triangular shape... in a minute. But that's what we do on Thursdays at snack. Adam conjours up many a mind-boggling task for Creek Run Tribe members to defeat. And that they do as the onlookers gasp in the background. Oh, and Amanda won again.

Independence!

The week concluded with a spectacular Independence Day Celebration. Phil and Keith put together another astonishing day. There was a camp-wide scavenger hunt, donut eating contest, hoola hoop tournament, pool games, relays, and a lunch buffet. Thanks Adam for the DJ-ing and everyone else for playing along. The excitement on the faces in the photos taken that day says it all...
