Hours
Our Creek Run program runs from 9 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m. We also offer an extended day program so that campers may
be dropped off as early as 7 a.m. and stay until 4 p.m. at no additional
charge.
After 4 p.m., a charge of $1.00 per hour/per
child is assessed until 6 p.m. This charge also applies to Counselors
in Training (CITs). All campers must be picked up by 6 p.m. After 6
p.m., a $20 charge per child will be levied every 15 minutes.
Placement
Campers are grouped according to age
and grade level. All activities are structured within each age group.
Our Lower Camp consists of those
campers age 4 to entering Grade 2. Our Upper
Camp includes campers entering Grade 3 to age 12.
Upper Campers may select their own afternoon activities at camp. They
may choose three different activities every day. Lower campers remain
with their villages in the afternoon for scheduled activities. Upper
and Lower campers are able to participate in all activities during the
season. We must, of course, take into consideration the age recommendations
for each activity and schedule accordingly.
Activities
Environmental Education Programs
Children have a natural curiosity
about the world around them. At Camp Creek Run, we capitalize upon this
wonder to teach campers about the local ecology through hands-on activities
that engage all of their senses.
Through many postive, fun, and educational interactions
with the environment, campers will come to understand the intricate relationships
between all living things. We believe that instilling a respect and understanding
of the natural world fosters a child's connection to community and other
human beings.
Some of the activities that are offered include Aquatic
Ecology; Forest Ecology; Wildlife Ecology; Tree Identification; Bird Study;
Canoeing Basics; Compass Course; Fish Seining; Fishing and Fish Identification;
and Gardening.
Our camp's Eco-Center is also equipped with microscopes,
natural science materials, and local field study guides. After exploring
the woods, fields, and streams in search of leaves, grasses, insects,
and other natural objects, campers can spend time with their counselors
in the Eco-Center identifying and learning about what they've found.
Campers will also have ample opportunity to learn about and care for
the adopted animals that call camp home.
Boating
Our lake is stream and spring fed with a sandy bottom and beach. The
depth is 0 to 6 feet. The primary activity
for the lake is paddleboating. All boats are equipped with life jackets.
Lifeguards and counselors are on duty at all times.
Lower Campers paddleboat with a counselor. Upper campers who have passed
our swim test may paddleboat with a life jacket.
Swimming & Water Sports
Each day, campers have swim instruction and recreational
swimming. A "Buddy System Check" is systematically used during recreational
swimming to ensure your child's safety.
Swimming lessons are given in the pools by our Red Cross
certified lifeguards. The children are grouped
according to age and ability.
Water sports and games are provided by our water sports director.
They include fun games such as relay races, water volleyball, water tag,
water polo, water basketball, musical balloons, and many others.
Field Sports & Games
We offer a structured sports program, supervised by our sports director.
Our program focuses on developing cooperation, problem solving, trust,
self reliance, and self esteem to build strong individuals and strong
groups. Our counselors create a supportive and judgment-free atmosphere
where individuals and groups are able to challenge themselves and learn
through their experiences.
To achieve these goals, we offer varied sports such as
basketball, soccer, volleyball, and kickball; outdoor education activities
such as the climbing wall, canoeing basics, hiking, archery, and orienteering;
and traditional camp games that give every camper a chance to excel.
In the event of extremely hot days, scheduled ball field
games will be cancelled and more emphasis will be placed on the cooler
activities and water sports.
NO TRIPS
Camp Creek Run activities and facilities are so diverse and extensive,
we find it unnecessary to participate in off-campus trips. Instead,
we have visitors and guest appearances and bring the "trip" to the campers.
Flyers are sent home during the season to advise you of special events,
activities, or visitors. You are invited to enjoy the day of your child,
should your schedule permit.

Horse Camp
We contract with a local horse farm to provide the theory,
ground, and mounted instruction in the discipline of Eventing to those
campers who are interested in Horse Camp. Eventing consists of Dressage,
Stadium Jumping and Cross Country.
All instruction is age and experience related. Our Horse
Camp is offered to the Upper Camp only. Sessions are one-week long from
Monday thru Friday. We provide
transportation to and from the horse farm. The campers enrolled will
depart from Creek Run at 9:00 a.m. and will return at Noon to continue
with their regular afternoon schedules. Please call the office for
more information about rates and registration.
C.I.T. Program
A Counselor-In-Training Program (C.I.T.) is available
at Camp Creek Run, providing a chance for campers to gain work experience,
especially if they plan to become counselors, teachers, or early childhood
educators.
CITs assist counselors and act as mentors to younger
campers. CITs help organize special events, distribute supplies, participate
in camper programs, and represent the best Creek Run has to offer.
Only motivated, energetic young men and women should apply.
Our youngest campers look up to our CITs -- therefore, a CIT must be responsible
and enjoy working with children.
The program is limited and acceptance is based on camping experience and
a personal interview. Applicants must be a minimum of 13 years old.
To register for the CIT program, complete the CIT
Application Form and mail to to the address listed on the form.
